– For a Better Weld County
Hello, I am Pierre De Milt, and I am running for County Commissioner
District One in this 2008 Election. With three Commissioner seats up
this year it is a pivotal year for our county.
Colorado has been my home for the past forty years and I can think of
no better place to live. I have lived and operated a business in
Severance for the past ten years.
I am concerned about what happens in Weld County. I wish to
protect and preserve what is working for Weld County and to change
and improve that which is not working.
Weld County has changed in the past ten years that I have resided
here and faces many challenges in the upcoming years. It has turned
into one of the fastest growing Counties in the nation and I want to be
an integral part of that growth with the goal of making Weld County
the best that it can be.
Agriculture has played a huge role as the core of Weld County and will continue to do so in the future. We need to protect and encourage our agricultural heritage. However, urban growth has dramatically increased in Weld County as well and with that urbanization comes many challenges that need to be met with a spirit of cooperation and harmony, while seeking that which is in the bests interests of all the residents of the County. To achieve this will take vision coupled with solid planning, planning in every segment of land use, open space, transportation, planning to handle the strain on the school systems, on the air we breathe, and on the water which is imperative to agriculture and municipalities alike. Vision, coupled with planning and then implementation of that planning is central to orderly, healthy and strong economic growth. It is necessary for our future to plan wisely and carry out those plans. An old saying that is applicable here is, “Plan your work and work your plan”
You can be assured I will work for you to make a better Weld County.
